A Daily Lift – May 20, 2020

Good Morning,

I hope that you are doing well!

Our “lifts” for today:

5.5 year old child to mother working from home: “mommy, I have glue on my feet.” “why do you have glue on your feet?” “I put some on the wall, too, and tried to climb up, but it didn’t work.”

Bach’s “Chaconne at home for 14 violinists”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eQd95VFpI8

A Chaconne is a musical form: a set of musical variations over the same harmony.  One of the most famous Chaconnes ever written is the last movement of J. S. Bach’s Partita No. 2 in D minor for solo violin. During the month of April, several well-known violinists decided to put together a version of this famous composition and play their violins in unison.

The Penn COVID-19 Community Archiving Project is a project by the University Archives and Records Center “to document the experiences of the University of Pennsylvania community of faculty, students, administrators, staff, researchers, alumni, and others during the COVID-19 outbreak and pandemic. Our goal is to collect as many diverse voices and experiences as possible so that future historians, students and scholars, doctors and scientists, public policy and health experts, University administrators, and others will be able to understand and learn how our community reacted to the COVID-19 pandemic and how we were able to respond and help support the broader world.”
