A Daily Lift – July 22, 2020

Good Morning,

I hope that you are doing well!

Our “lifts” for today:

From Abigail Behrends (MSE)

Philly Rising: A virtual mural from the Philly Mural Arts Program representing Philadelphians through self-submitted photos:  https://www.muralarts.org/artworks/phillyrising/

From Carol Heffer (PEFS)

The Rest in Peace 5K to benefit Laurel Hill Cemetery is virtual this year. The dates are October 1 – 4.  Laurel Hill contains the graves of notable Philadelphians such as Harry Kalas, General George Meade, Joseph Wharton, Adrian Balboa, and her brother Paulie. For information and to register: https://thelaurelhillcemetery.org/support/rest-in-peace-5k-run

From Doug McGee (Science and Engineering Libraries)

Last month, the Biomedical Library hosted a fascinating and engaging virtual book talk with Stephen Fried, author of “Rush: Revolution, Madness, and Benjamin Rush, the Visionary Doctor who became a Founding Father.”  The presentation was recorded. There are some intermittent audio issues early in his presentation around the 12 minute mark due to internet connection issues, but they do clear up after a few minutes and it remains clear for the rest of the video.

WXPN’s XPoNential Music Festival is this weekend, Friday, July 24th, through Sunday, July 26th. Of course,  the Festival will be virtual this year with  archived video performances from 40+ artists. On Sunday, there will be on-air and online performances by some of the artists originally scheduled to perform at the Festival this summer. You can attend the virtual Festival and even get recipes at: http://xpnfest.org/

Please share some “lifts” to include next week.

Stay safe and healthy!

Sincerely,

Denise
